LIEUTENANT MATTHEW JIMENEZ
Lieutenant Matthew Jimenez began his law enforcement career in 1993 as a Deputy Sheriff with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. As a Deputy Sheriff he served his community in assignments at both the Indio and Blythe Jails as well as gaining extensive patrol experience at the Colorado River Station and the Indio Station of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. Recognized for his field and patrol experience he was appointed to the La Quinta Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team. While serving in his assignment with the Special Enforcement Team he was promoted to the rank of Investigator within Indio Station.
In 2003 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and continued to serve within the Indio Station where he supervised patrol operations in the unincorporated county area and the contract cities of Coachella and La Quinta. In 2004 he was assigned to supervise the La Quinta Police Department Special Enforcement Team. He carried out this assignment until his promotion to Lieutenant in 2007.
Reassigned to the Palm Desert Station of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Lieutenant Jimenez served a three year assignment as the Assistant Chief of Police for the City of Indian Wells and subsequently served as the Administrative Lieutenant for the Palm Desert Station.
Lieutenant Jimenez is a recipient of Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Medal of Valor, the Department’s highest award recognizing conspicuous heroism under exigent or life threatening conditions and acts of bravery while facing imminent danger. He also proudly served his country as a M1A1 main battle tank crew member with the United States Marine Corps. Lt. Jimenez is a Marine veteran of the Persian Gulf War.
Lieutenant Jimenez is married and has two wonderful children. He and his family are long term residents of the Coachella Valley community in which he serves.
