LIEUTENANT JASON HUSKEY
Lieutenant Jason Huskey started his law enforcement career in 1990 and began working with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department in 1998. He previously
held the ranks of detective and sergeant with the City of Coachella Police Department.
After working as a patrol deputy in the cities of Coachella and La Quinta, he was
promoted to sergeant in 2000 and assigned to the Robert Presley Detention Center
where he supervised jail operations for three years. In 2004 he was reassigned to
the Moreno Valley Station and served as patrol supervisor for two years. In 2006
he was transferred to the Professional Standards Bureau, Internal Affairs, where
he received a promotion to lieutenant and became the commander of the bureau. As
commander, his responsibilities included civil litigation support, grants, legislation,
internal affairs investigations, and the ongoing project of developing a new Department
policy manual. In January 2009 he was assigned to Indio Station to manage patrol
operations and he was assigned to the La Quinta Police Department in September 2009.
Lieutenant Huskey is a member of the State Bar of California and has been a lawyer
since 2002. He is a university adjunct faculty member and teaches criminal justice
and legal studies courses. In 2007 he served as the California Police Officers'
Association, Police Legal Advisors Committee Section Chairperson.
Lieutenant Huskey has lived in the Coachella Valley since 1993, is married, and
has a son. He is a second-generation Mexican-American and speaks Spanish fluently.
Lieutenant Huskey holds a Juris Doctor degree from Western State University, College
of Law; a Master of Public Administration degree from California State University,
San Bernardino; and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from California
State University, Long Beach.
