Sgt. Richard Waltch
Sergeant Waltch, a 25-year veteran of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department,
has an extensive law enforcement background. Sgt. Waltch began his career in 1984,
serving as a patrol officer at both the Indio and the Palm Desert Stations. Promoted
to Sergeant in 1995, Sgt. Waltch was assigned to supervise several patrol shifts
at the Riverside Station. In 1996 Sgt. Waltch returned to the desert where he served
as the Indio Station Field Training Program Coordinator and supervised the Southern
Coachella Valley Community Services District Team. In 1998 Sgt. Waltch was reassigned
to the Indio Jail where he supervised both Business Office and Floor Operations.
In 2000, Sgt. Waltch transferred to the Palm Desert Station where he directed the
Palm Desert Police Department’s Traffic Division and was instrumental in starting
the Palm Desert Motorcycle Enforcement Program. Sgt. Waltch also supervised the
Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team. In 2005, Sgt. Waltch was selected to supervise
the Riverside County Sheriff’s C.A.T.C.H. Team, a Tri-County task force charged
with investigating High-Tech Crime.
Sgt. Waltch holds professional certificates in Advanced Traffic Collision Investigation
and Reconstruction, Computer Forensic Examination (CFE), and Advanced Computer Intrusion
Investigation. Sergeant Waltch is a member of the High-Tech Criminal Investigators
Association (H.T.C.I.A.)
Serving as the Administrative Sergeant for the City of La Quinta, Sergeant Waltch
also acts as supervisor of the School Resource Officer Division for the city's schools.
